Pietro P. Masina

History and Economic Development of South-East Asia
University of Naples L’Orientale

Pietro Paolo Masina is Professor of History and Institutions of Asia at the University of Naples L’Orientale.

He is a Life Member of Clare Hall at the University of Cambridge, and editor-in-chief of the European Journal of East Asian Studies. He has participated in and coordinated several European projects on topics related to economic development, the industrialization process, and labor conditions in East and Southeast Asia. He graduated from Sapienza University of Rome and received his Ph.D. from Roskilde University in Denmark, where he subsequently taught for a decade. He was a Research Visitor at the Centre for History and Economics at the University of Cambridge from March 2016 to June 2017 and then a Senior Visiting Research Fellow at the Asia Research Institute of the National University of Singapore from July to October 2018.
