Emanuela Rondi

Economics and Management of Entrepreneurial Families
University of Bergamo

Emanuela Rondi is Associate Professor of Business Economics and Management at the University of Bergamo.

She earned her Ph.D. in 2016 at Lancaster University Management School (UK) with a thesis focused on the role of family relationships in innovation processes. Over 30 outputs from her research have been published in top international journals, such as Organization Science, Journal of Management, Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, Journal of Management Studies, and Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal, which are included in the Financial Times 50 list of excellence. Her research has received over 10 awards. She serves as a member of the Editorial Review Board for Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, Journal of Family Business Strategy, SAGE Business Cases, and Pearson Management & Marketing Cases. Distillations of her academic research have been published in outlets like Sole24Ore, MIT Sloan Management Review, Campden FB, Tharawat Magazine, and MIT Sloan Management Review Italia.

Currently, her research focuses on entrepreneurial family strategies with a particular emphasis on sustainability and the circular economy, for which she is also involved in a PNRR-funded grant. Since 2019, she has been the Permanent Chair of the Research Development Program of IFERA – International Family Enterprise Research Academy, the global reference association for family business research. She has been involved in the research activities of the Family Office Observatory (Politecnico di Milano, Italy) since its founding and serves as its International Academic Coordinator. Emanuela is also affiliated with the Centre for Family Business Management at the Free University of Bolzano, where she was a co-founder and held a fixed-term research position from 2017 to 2021. Additionally, she is a member of the Academic Advisory Board of the International Family Enterprise Centre (Taylor’s University, Malaysia).

She has been a Visiting scholar at the University of Vienna (Austria) in 2022 and at the Haskayne Business School, University of Calgary (Canada) in 2017.

She is a member of international academic associations such as the Academy of Management, EGOS, EIASM, the European Academy of Management, IFERA, and SIMA – the Italian Society of Management. Her research and teaching activities are combined with advisory services for international entrepreneurial families. In this capacity, she was recently appointed Academic Coordinator of the Next Generation Summit for Family Business Network International (FBN-i), the global reference network for entrepreneurial families.
